Boom Beach

Title: Boom Beach
Platform: PC, Mac, Android, Apple
Developer(s): Supercell
Release Date: 2008
Genre(s): Strategy, conquest, app
Online/Single player: Online
Rating: 4/5

Info
Boom beach is a game developed by Supercell. It is similar to their previous game Clash of Clans, but still differs quite a bit.

Campaign
In the campaign you have to defeat the evil general Hammerman, who has amassed armies to conquer the world. The Blackguards, they're called. You start off in a small piece of the world, and as you defeat Hammerman's armies, you need to upgrade your radar in order to move further into the world.

Multiplayer
Among the Blackguard, there are also players in the same campaign that you need to defeat. They are a lot stronger than the Blackguard, but defeating them gives you huge rewards.

Units
There are a lot of types of units, like sharpshooters, zookas, tanks, medics etc etc.
Different units have different perks. The sharpshooter is weak, but he can be delivered in huge numbers. Zookas have great damage, but their health is really crappy. Tanks have great damage and health, but they take huge population, and can only be deployed a few at a time.
Different enemies calls for different strategies. If you're up against a lot of sniper turrets, then a good combination is to send in zookas and heavies. Heavies absorb the damage, and zooka deals them.

Dr. Terror
Almost every day an evil doctor named Dr. Terror appears on the map. His technology allows his weapons to duplicate, making him stronger every time you defeat him. If you manage to beat his ten levels though, you win. He will still appear again even after you've defeated him.
Defeating Dr. Terror gives you a lot of resources.

Hammerman Attacks
Hammerman Attacks is an event that happens when you reach a certain point in the game. When this happens, Hammerman attacks your home base with an enormous fleet that is indeed VERY powerful. He is very tough to beat, and you only get three chances to defend against him.

Statues
Statues gives you boosts. They are presented as life statues, which improves production, ice statues, which improves buildings, magma statues, which increase the efficiency of your troops, and dark statues, which can give Boat Energy or increases chance to find power dust. They can also be built with three different types. Idol is weakest, Guardian is balanced and Masterpiece is strongest.
A Life Idol can for example give you a 4% production increase, but a guardian can give you 11%. It varies though, and you may get different percentages even though they're the same type.
Statues are built with crystals that you can either earn or gain from defeating enemies.

Home base
Your home base is the center of everything. Here you can train units, build and improve production and defensive buildings, and upgrade your army from the Armory. When a player attacks and successfully destroys your home base, you lose a lot of resources. Therefore its important to always keep a good defense.

Resource bases
Resource bases are basically colonies. When you conquer a resource base, it will ship resources to your base, depending on how high leveled it is. Every time either you or an opponent takes a resource base, the defenses on that island is improved. There is however no way to either build or improve buildings there otherwise.

Cast & Conquer

TitleCast & Conquer
Platform: Android, IOS
Developer(s): R2Games
Release Date: April, 2015
Genre(s): Card, Strategy
Online/Single player: Online
Rating: 4,5/5

Overview

R2Games did it again. They made another successful game. This time, a game that takes elements from both the MMO and RPG genre, and then made it into one of the best card games i have ever played. Not that i have played many card games in the first place, but that is because none of them seems to interest me. Cast & Conquer is different though, in some way i cant quite explain with words. Its just something about this game that makes me want to play it everyday.

Gameplay

You start with a tutorial that teaches you the basics of the game, before you enter the real world where you can chat with other people, add them as friends and all those lovely things we just love about MMO games. In the tutorial you will be introduced to some funky starting cards that you can use in your deck. Your deck can only have 10 cards in it, but this expands as you level up. What i love is that you have to think strategy to actually get anywhere in this game. Filling your deck with random cards that you have no idea what does will not do. You have to read through the cards, maybe a several times to actually understand what they do, and when or where they can be smart to use. The cards have different jobs. Some of them are medics, used purely for healing. Some are tanks. These should be put in the front row of your army, etc etc. But what is most important to understand, is the round count of the cards. Some cards takes 3 rounds to spawn, while some only needs 1. The ones with 3 would be the ones that are more useful, but that doesnt mean you can just spam your deck with those cards, because then you wouldnt be able to spawn any cards before the third round. What is simply beautiful feature to the game is that you can evolve your cards, which means you can turn them into 3 star cards instead of 2 star. To do this, you will need experience, and no Im not talking about experience points you use to level up, Im talking about experience points you get from disolving other, rather useless cards. This is awesome because it opens another cool function to the game. Grinding. You would have to grind some useless cards, and then turn them into evolved cards before you can get further in the campaign. So you will actually have to retry some levels before you complete another chapter. This is cool because then it makes it tougher to complete every single chapter.

Blacksmith

The blacksmith is very useful, because that is the place where you enchant your gear. To do this you will have to spend some enchant stones, which can be obtained from quests and chapters. If you are too lazy to get them from those two, you can always buy them for Garnets.

Enchant stones give you higher chance of successfully enchant an item. This is why they are so useful.

Another useful thing you can do in the blacksmith is crafting new gear. You can for example craft 2 level 1 swords into 1 level 2 sword.

Alchemy

This is where you can dissolve and evolve your cards. Very important for late game.

Arena

Arena is probably the feature i like the most, and is a must for online games like Cast & Conquer. It opens the opportunity to beat the crap out of the other players on the server. When beating someone, you gain Honor points, which is Cast & Conquer´s way of saying, "bitch i have more Honor points than you, means im better than you".

Conclusion

Cast & Conquer is a very basic game. But, it has all the features a online game should have. They made it so it is actually hard to complete the game, and they added some fun stuff to do while waiting for your stupid stamina to spawn. The fact that there is over 1000 cards to obtain, and over 200 campaign levels to complete makes this game very interesting to play.

Pros:
- Classes, like Priest, Sorcerer, Range, and Warrior. Each of them comes with different "Ability" cards.
- So many chapters and cards.
- Cool live action battles. You dont just spawn your cards and imagine a dragon appear on your screen.

Cons:
- You have to pay to fully enjoy the game.

NOTE: I am not fully completed with this game review yet. There is still a lot of features i havent been able to try yet due to lack of levels, resources and such. This is just a review of my personal experience of the game so far.

ZunderFury

Title: ZunderFury
Platform: Flash (PC, Mac)
Developer(s): Doogog
Release Date: 2008
Genre(s): Shooter, Action
Online/Single player: Offline
Rating: 3

ZunderFury is a Fast paced arena shooter game with tons of different enemies.

Gameplay:

When you click play you can choose between two different ships. "Zunder" and "Fury". The difference between them is the weapon. Doesn't really matter who you choose, both of them are awesome. When you click your ship, you will be sent to the game. The game contains of lots of different waves. Starting on wave 1 you have nothing but a weapon that shoots 1 bullet at a time. Use WASD on the keyboard to control your ship, and Left mouse click to turn on your auto-fired machine gun of death. You can click once more to stop the gun from shooting, if you feel in the mod to get ripped apart. When you have finished off the enemies from wave 1 you will be sent to another screen where you can upgrade your stuff. For example if you wanted to upgrade your weapon, it would now shoot 2 bullets, instead of 1. Pretty basic, right? So, this is basically the game. You go through waves and waves until you die, and have to start over again. Before you start over again, make sure to submit your sexy score, so that other people can see how good you are.

Upgrades:

Weapon: Makes your gun shoot more bullets.
Life: Buy more life.
Speed: Increases your speed.
Bomb: Well.. I guess you can have bombs as well.

Play the game

Fun fact: If you explode, it means you are dead.

Cloudstone

Title: Cloudstone
Platform: Flash (PC, Mac)
Developer(s): Playsaurus, Doogog, Fragsworth
Release Date: 2012
Genre(s): RPG, MMO, Adventure
Online/Single player: Online
Rating: 4/5

Info

Cloudstone is a massive multiplayer online game created by Playsaurus, Doogog and Fragsworth. The play style is much like any other Facebook game. You can for example add friends who can help you solve problems and you have a energy bar. What more could you want.

Gameplay

You play as a customizable character who you can edit in the beginning of your adventure. You can make your character look like an anime based character with big eyes and even a cat face. No seriously. Or you can make your character look like something more evil. Like a pig, I dont know. However, it doesnt really matter how you create your character, the point is that it is epic. You start off with a tutorial that will teach you the basics off the game. After you have done the tutorial you do the typical quests, going on adventures, much like any other MMORPG out there. You can level up your character by gaining experience points from killing monsters or completing quests. Once you level up, you get 1 Skill point. This happens every time you level up. You can use your skill points in your skill book, where you choose between using it on "Warrior", "Sorcerer" or "Monk". Thats right. This game has Monks. Each of the roles have different advantages in the game. For Example, the Warrior can take any damage without getting hurt. The Sorcerer, like in any other games shoots magic, which makes it possible to kill monsters from a distance, thus she has no armor and can therefor easily die. The Monk has healing abilities and can therefor stay alive for quite some time. All of these three roles are good in each their ways. What is important to notice is that you can reset your skill points anytime you want, so if you feel like the Monk class didnt fit your play style, go ahead and use it on any of the other roles. You can even spread out your points and use them on every role. Imagine a Warrior with healing spells and sorcerers spells, sexy right?

You can also join guilds, play against other players in the PVP arena and do daily events. You can even create your own home.

Shop

The shop has a big variety of different weapons for the Monk, Warrior and Sorcerer. I was surprised that there are so few items that you have to buy for actual money. Finally a game where its not only about those Gems that costs like 50 bucks each.

Roles

Monk:
The monk is a close combat type.
Has Healing abilities
"Dicipline" makes the monk stronger. So when you are in the shop, make sure to buy the items with dicipline gains on it.

Warrior:
Warrior is a close combat type.
Has many strong abilities.
Can use shield.
"Rage" Makes the warrior stronger

Sorcerer:
Ranged combat type.
Has many cool mage abilities.
"Sorcerer points" makes the Sorcerer stronger. Logic right there.

Overall i think this game is quite unique, and i liked it a lot.
I rate it 8/8.

Doom 2

Title: Doom II: Hell on Earth
Platform: MS-DOS, Xbox 360, Macinstosh, Playstation 3
Developer(s): DivineGames
Release Date:
Genre(s): First Person Shooter
Online/Single player: Offline, Online
Rating: 5/5

Gameplay

Campaign
After the demons finds their way to Earth, you once more have to stop them, this time from destroying your planet. The campaign is really long, it takes 23 minutes to just speed run, and if you want a perfect score you have to eliminate everything. That can take quite some time. The game has six difficulties, and have some funny names, The easiest one is named "I'm too young to die!"and the hardest is called "Nightmare"

Coop
Since the campaign can be extremely difficult, it will help you alot if you play in coop, and has a companion to back you up.

Weapons
Doom II has a large variety of weaponry that are both original and powerful. Starting weapons are the brass knuckles and the pistol. Most commonly used is the pump action shotgun, which is known for now having to aim at opponents, as the bullets "find their way" themselves. Of course, the pump action shotgun isn't enough, so they also added in the Super Shotgun. This gun fires two shells at the same time, doubling the damage, and the reload speed is increased. Next is the minigun. The minigun is basically a huge machinegun that can easily mow down hordes in the matter of seconds. If you are up against stronger enemies, the minigun can stun them and keep shooting them until they die. The Rocket Launcher can store up to fifty rockets, and fire all of them semi-automatically, without the need to reload. Be careful, the rockets can damage and/or kill you if they explode too close to you.
Then there is the chainsaw. The chainsaw is really powerful against individual opponents, as it can stun the enemies while damaging them, just like the minigun. The chainsaw doesn't require ammunition, and is therefore a permanent melee weapon, if you can obtain it.
And then, my personal favorite, the BIG FUCKING GUN 9000, or the BFG-9000 for short. The Big Fucking Gun is the most powerful weapon in Doom, and can completely obliterate even bosses with two simple shots. The shots also radiates over larger areas, so it can clear out entire armies at once, giving it the nickname - The Room Sweeper. Of course, a weapon this powerful is given extremely limited ammo, so only use it when you need it.

Monsters
The monsters in doom 2 are very original, and they are extremely fun to kill, as they all blast into gory pieces with their insides all over the floor. A couple of them are the demons, the cacodemons, the faunas etc etc... The demons are melee fighters that run into you and try to eat you. They are weak individually but in numbers they are fearsome, and if you are in a tight spot then there is no escape. The Cacodemons are big flying head that shoots fireballs at you. The minigun is very effective against them. The faunas as I've dubbed them is a half man half goat thing that fires green fireballs at you, and these fireballs deal way more damage than the Cacodemons.

The player
The player is with no doubt badass, but he hasn't really been given an official name. Most people just call him Doomguy.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer in this game is really fun. The huge variations of weapons you can use, and with the speed you can run, its a competition of who has the best accuracy and fastest reactions.

This game is incredible. Though it is a bit outdated, it is among the best FPS games I've played, right next to Halo.

Realm Grinder

Game Details:

Title: Realm Grinder
Platform: PC
Developer(s): DivineGames
Release Date: May. 2015
Genre(s): Idle (slight medieval theme)
Online/Single player: Offline
Rating: 4/5

Gameplay:
Entering the game, a game screen approaches us (see the first picture). The first thing I did before anything was first make a quick overview and try to understand how this idle game was setup, but without fully understanding, I started clicking the chest. The chest is where the basic coin gathering happens.

Starting out
Each click gave me a coin each. After gathering 10 coins, I could buy my first "building", the Farm. Unlikely other idle games, the first building gave me a decent amount of cash regeneration. That is what many idle games miss on, the first upgrades is too weak, and it gets boring after a short while. So a quite decent first building was a plus, and it did not take long until I got more and more money, buying many Farms and Inns.

As you go on deeper into the game, you realize there are many different kind of coins involved into the game. These are coins that are possible to achieve only by clicking the treasure chest. It is the same chance to get all the different coins, it is 2% for all of them. The different kind of coins are:
  • Demon coins
  • Undead coins
  • Goblin coins
  • Angel coins
  • Elven coins
  • Fairy coins
Mana
On the top left, there is a mana bar that allows you to purchase some powerups for your game experience. Your maximum mana is 1000, and in the beginning it regenerates 0,5 per second. Later on with several upgrades, you can make the regeneration go faster. The abilities you can buy are limited to two at the beginning of the game. They are:
  1. Tax collection: It costs 200 mana and you instantly get 30 seconds worth of cash.
  2. Call to arms: It costs 400 mana and gives you 20% extra coins for 30 seconds.
Later on, you will have access to other awesome abilities too.

Achievments
Realm Grinder has an achievment system. It is very basic and keep track of your progress. Nice to check sometimes!

Upgrades
The upgrade bar is very messy at times. You can not decide what upgrade is what, so you will have to go through every single of them and read. There are many different kind of upgrades, everything from making buildings more efficient to making the clicking more useful. Some upgrades even unlocks new buildings to buy.

The Important Choice
You know those special types of coines, which appearently belongs to a specific race or group of creatures, such as angels and demons, those coins are very useful later. After collecting 20 pieces of the same type of coin, you are one step further out into the game. With twenty of them. you are now able to purchase a new "route" on how the game should be. By choosing the upgrade of your choice, There is an upgrade for every single type of coin, and every different upgrade gives you a specialty. I chose the elves, which gave me a boost on treasure chest clicking.

This purchase cannot be undone without a reset!

After purchasing the race you wanted, that type of coin will be the most important one. All the other types can be used to purchase upgrades for overall gold gains.

You will get new kind of upgrades directing against the course you chose, and they are almost never ending.

At the cost of 100 coins of the specific coin you chose earlier you can buy a mysterious upgrade that unlocks new upgrades.

Reset
As in almost all other idle games, there is a reset button that will reward you with bonuses if you have come far in the game before resetting.

Conclusion
The overall conclusion of this game is: It is fun to play when you got some spare time. Since it is an idle game, you do not have to spend every single second of playing it looking at the screen, after a while, it gets very automatic. The concept of the gameplay is a bit advanced for someone, but just a regular internet user would fully understand it well. Personally i think it is a great game and i gave it a rating of 4/5.

Graphics
The first thoughts of the design and graphics is very positive. It is calming and clean.
First I notice is the coins, besides the beautiful drawn chest of course. The graphics of the game is very smooth and matches everything. The color of the coins is very symbolic for the creatures. The navigation bar is very nice and simple, and the setup of the upgrade bars is nicely done. The only thing bothering me is that the icons of upgrades and such is a bit confusing.

Latest Updates

Latest update added 28/5 - 2015:

  • Added Hotkeys for Spells! 1: Tax Collection, 2: Call to Arms, 3: Alignment Spell, 4: Faction Spell.
  • NEW UPGRADES: each building now unlocks a new upgrade when you build 200 of them. Farms, Inns and Blacksmiths follow the increasing rule set in a previous update, granting them a further bonus of 500%. All other buildings get a 100% bonus while Halls of Legends get the 50/0.5xTrophy as usual.
  • God’s Hand base cost has been increased to 1000 mana, up from 900.
  • Call To Arms effect has been reduced to 0.3% per building, down from 0.35%.

  • Grinding Dedication now remains unlocked and available to purchase through soft resets.
  • Added an option to disable Trophy Popups.
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to a crash and grey screen.
